I. General courses conducted with special paper: The department currently runs courses at three levels viz Higher Secondary stage, the Under Graduate stage for both the degree Arts and Science classes and at the Post Graduate stage. At the degree level the General courses are the Major in Economics for both Arts and Science stream. At the Post graduate level the General course deals with the M.A. syllabus under the Gauhati University.

At the degree level the special papers offered are

II. Collaborative projects.
1. Dr. Gautam Mazumdar and Shri Manoj Talukdar had undertaken two Projects for the Government of Assam. One for the preparing the DPR of the Project dealing with the financing of Primary Education in the State of Assam and two for preparing the Feasibility Report for the Second phase of the World Bank assisted ARIASP project for the State.
2. Dr. Gautam Mazumdar was actively involved in the Sarba Sikhsya Abhijan Programme in the State
3. Dr. Padma Sharma and Shri Manoj Talukdar are actively involved in the European Union funded BRAHMATWINN Project under IIT(R) dealing with Climate Change and the development of a viable River Basin Information System in the river Brahmaputra with synergies with the river Danube in Europe.
4. Shri Manoj Talukdar was an independent Debt consultant to the Government of Assam in connection with the Asian Development sponsored Fiscal Responsibility and Governance project
5. Dr.Gautam Mazumdar, Shri Manoj Talukdar and Dr. Pradip Adhyapak are actively involved as external resource personnel in various institutes –Governmental Private and University run.
